Departure of Employees from the Transmission System Operator and Preparation for the Electricity Market

September 27, 2024

The Cyprus Transmission System Operator faces challenges due to the departure of nearly half of its employees seconded from the Electricity Authority. Twenty-two out of 48 employees have expressed their intention to return to the Authority, creating gaps in the National Energy Control Center. Despite these changes, officials believe that the trial operation of the electricity market will not be affected. Normal operation is expected in the autumn of 2025.
