Decrease in Irregular Migrant Arrivals in Cyprus

This year, the arrivals of irregular migrants in Cyprus have dropped to the lowest level in the last six years, largely due to government measures. Since May, there have been no sea arrivals, with most migrants coming from Syria and Afghanistan. The government has increased deportations and is addressing challenges with unaccompanied minors and Syrian refugees. Cyprus has also emphasized the need for some areas to be recognized as safe.
