Greek Policy towards Cyprus (1960-1974)

Turkey, although a guarantor power of the new state of Cyprus, quickly began working against the Cypriot Republic. Instead, Athens reinforced the idea of uniting Cyprus with Greece by creating military organizations and promoting this policy. These moves aimed to address threats from both external and internal enemies. Karamanlis' policy included supporting the military organization 'Acritas' and propagating the idea of union.
