The Situation of Private Roads in Nicosia

In Nicosia, there are nine private roads that the owners can close at any time, although there is an agreement with the municipality to avoid tolls. These private roads have not been expropriated, and this situation has persisted for years. The mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Proutzos, notes that the roads do not cause disturbances as they are not used by a large number of vehicles. However, the situation with private roads is much worse in rural areas.
