Parliament's Hesitant Response to Municipal Fee Increases

The Parliament expresses doubts about the municipalities' proposals for fee increases of up to 35%. The chairman of the Internal Affairs Committee stated that citizens are already heavily burdened and that it is uncertain if the increases will be approved. Municipalities claim that government funding is insufficient to meet their needs, requesting more funds. Recently, there were reactions due to significant increases in property tax by the Municipality of Nicosia.
