June 20, 2025
The Regulatory Authority for Energy of Cyprus (RAEK) approved the development and management of energy storage systems to ensure the safe and economic operation of the electrical network. Batteries will be installed at three substations with a total capacity of 400 megawatts. The management and ownership of these storage systems will belong to the Transmission System Operator, bypassing formal tendering procedures. RAEK emphasizes that this decision serves the public interest.
