Challenges in the Procurement of Generators for Dekeleia

The procurement process for new generators aimed at electricity production in Dekeleia is facing significant challenges, with delivery times extending to summer 2028. The Electricity Authority is considering alternative solutions like small internal combustion units, but these are not seen as ideal. Additionally, there is a proposal for a new tender without restrictions to attract more companies. In the meantime, hopes are focused on the use of energy storage systems, such as batteries, to address the anticipated electricity shortfall in summer 2026.
