Investigation into Senior National Guard Officer Following Allegations

The Chief of the National Guard, Georgios Tsitsikostas, has ordered an investigation into allegations against a senior officer during the deadly fire in Limassol. The inquiry will look into possible disciplinary responsibilities and accusations of inappropriate behavior against the officer. The complaint was made by meteorologist Eric Kitas, who claimed that the officer responded indifferently during the evacuation of communities. The officer in question had recommended a colonel for commendation for his handling of the fire. The issue is also being monitored by Defense Minister Vasilis Palmas.
