Necessary Measures for Drug Shortages in the EU and Cyprus

Drug shortages in the EU have reached record levels in the past two years, causing serious problems for patients and national health systems. Auditors found that the Union lacks an effective system for preventing and managing these shortages. Critical medicines, such as amoxicillin and thrombolytics, are particularly affected. In Cyprus, the situation has not escalated significantly, as the local industry meets the needs. However, actions and new regulations are needed to improve the situation.
