November 13, 2025
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) has been ordered to pay €97,500 to a homeowner in Platanistasa following a fire caused by a short circuit in her electrical system. The fire occurred in 2012, and the homeowner filed a lawsuit blaming EAC for negligence. After 11 years of court proceedings, the court ruled in favor of the homeowner. Experts confirmed that the fire was caused by faulty EAC installations. The court emphasized EAC's responsibility for maintaining the safety of its network.
