Cyprus Revenue from Emission Auctions for Climate Policy Actions
January 2, 2026
The Republic of Cyprus has received nearly €500 million from the auctioning of emission rights between 2012-2024. This revenue is used for actions related to climate change, such as promoting renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. In 2024, a significant portion was allocated to support citizens with electricity costs. Additionally, millions were invested in public transportation and electric mobility. The government ensures that 100% of the revenue is directed towards climate policy through the state budget.
