Preventive checks for foot-and-mouth disease in the free areas of Cyprus

Preventive checks are ongoing in the free areas of Cyprus due to the foot-and-mouth disease detected in the occupied areas. The Veterinary Services have implemented strict measures, including vehicle disinfection and the procurement of portable disinfection equipment. Sampling is ongoing in high-risk areas, with negative results so far. However, monitoring remains vigilant in case of potential spread. Some countries, like Australia and Canada, have temporarily removed Cyprus from the list of countries free of foot-and-mouth disease.
