Suspension of Metropolitan Tycho and Discussion on Bishop Elections

The Holy Synod has decided to impose a suspension on former Metropolitan Tycho, who is considered outside the Hierarchy. At the same time, the Archbishop's proposal for direct elections of Bishops and Metropolitans by the Synod, without public participation except for the election of the Archbishop, will be examined. There are allegations against Bishop Christoforos of Karpassia, but no official complaint has been submitted to the Holy Synod. Tycho has expressed his intention to take legal action to restore his position. The decision to suspend Tycho appears to be a foregone conclusion.
