Concerning water storage situation in Cyprus reservoirs
January 14, 2026
Recent rains in Cyprus have provided some relief to the reservoirs, but water storage levels remain dramatically low. The largest dam, Kouris, is down to 9.5% of its capacity, nearly empty, while the overall water storage situation across the country is concerning. Despite the rains, the total water levels in reservoirs are significantly lower compared to last year. January is considered the best month for the current hydrological year. The data highlights the need for attention and action regarding water management.
