Discussion on Parliamentary Immunity in the Cypriot Parliament

Since 2016, the Cypriot Parliament has been discussing bills regarding changes to parliamentary immunity. Although there is agreement on the need for reform, discussions have not reached a conclusive outcome. The Attorney General emphasized the importance of differentiating between offenses that require immunity. Concerns remain about the application and limitation of immunity, with proposals to review offenses not connected to parliamentary duties. The Committee plans to study the provisions of other countries before proceeding.
