A rare optical phenomenon called the 'Brocken spectre' was observed in the Machaira area. The image shows a magnified shadow of the observer surrounded by a colorful halo. This phenomenon is caused by light refraction and scattering in mist droplets. Despite its impressive appearance, it is merely an optical illusion observable on various mountains under suitable weather conditions. The name comes from Brocken mountain in Germany, where it is frequently seen.
