Grigoris Auxentiou, a fighter of E.O.K.A., was diagnosed with acute appendicitis in 1956 and needed immediate surgery. His transfer from the Monastery of Machairas to Limassol was organized with the help of Abbot Irinaios and several fighters. The right surgeon was quickly chosen, and the surgery was successfully performed. This process reflects the collaboration and dedication of the people of that era. Despite the seriousness of his condition, Auxentiou showed courage and determination.
