Cyprus is caught in a regional conflict that is unlikely to escalate into a World War. International Relations expert Charalambos Chrysostomou notes that for a war to be considered global, major powers must be involved across more than two continents. Currently, only the United States is viewed as a major power in the ongoing conflict. Russia and China are not actively involved in the situation.
