Temporary Suspension of Animal Culling Due to Foot-and-Mouth Disease
March 7, 2026
The Ministry of Agriculture has temporarily suspended the culling of animals due to foot-and-mouth disease in Cyprus. A vaccination campaign against the disease is currently underway. Agricultural associations plan to meet with the President to request EU oversight on how funds for dealing with animal diseases are used. The need for a coordination mechanism from the EU is crucial. Farmers are also asking for a halt to culling vaccinated animals.
