Michael Membré: An Important Cypriot of the 16th Century

Michael Membré was a 16th-century Cypriot who traveled to Persia as an envoy of Venice. He was highly educated, fluent in several languages, and played a significant role in fostering relations between Venice and Persia. He traversed many countries and regions to complete his mission. Geographer Gian Battista Ramusio praised him for his skills and contributions. Membré is considered an important figure of his time, akin to Marco Polo.
