Audit Service Begins Investigation in Paphos Municipality

The Audit Service is initiating an investigation in the Municipality of Paphos, focusing on financial issues, particularly concerning compensatory fees. The Auditor General has received complaints and is assessing related information to determine the areas of scrutiny. There are questions regarding the process followed for fees that should have gone to the Municipality but ended up with contractors. The compensatory fees intended for public works did not go through the Municipality's accounts. The investigation also revealed that up to €2.3 million is currently inactive.
