Delay in granting Cypriot citizenship for 11-year-old from Strovolos

An 11-year-old child born in Strovolos, of Turkish and Turkish Cypriot descent, has been waiting for Cypriot citizenship since 2021. In contrast, his brother, born in Ankara, obtained Cypriot citizenship in 2011. His mother submitted an application to the Ministry of Interior but had received no response until 2021. Following an appeal to the Administrative Court, the court annulled the delay, ruling that the applicant is entitled to citizenship. However, the process remains pending due to a backlog of other applications at the Ministry.
