Audit Office Calls for Changes in Cyprus-Greece Maritime Policy
April 2, 2026
The Audit Office is calling for changes in the maritime policy connecting Cyprus and Greece due to significant distortions found. Although there is high travel interest, the average occupancy of the ships from 2022 to 2025 was only 49%. This is attributed to state incentives that result in low passenger loading. Additionally, instances were noted where there were no available tickets, even though occupancy was considerable. The Audit Office suggests correcting these distortions.
