In the Cyprus Issue: Limited Prospects in Leaders' Meeting
April 6, 2026
The meeting between Nikos Christodoulides and Tufan Erhurman today shows no promising prospects for progress in the Cyprus issue. The negative stance of the Turkish Cypriot leader limits opportunities for any positive development. This is the first meeting following their separate discussions with the UN Secretary-General. Christodoulides expressed readiness to discuss substantive issues and confidence-building measures. So far, there has been no positive response from the Turkish Cypriot side.
