Desalination Units to be Established in Ayia Napa, Mazotos, and Polis Chrysochous

For the first time, Ayia Napa, Mazotos, and Polis Chrysochous will receive desalination units, aiming to cover 100% of water supply needs by 2029. The government plans to increase the production capacity of desalinated water and acknowledges the need for backup units. These efforts aim to free water supply from dependence on rainfall and maintain reservoir levels. Water-related spending will significantly increase, boosting the production of reclaimed water and the maintenance of dams. The situation is urgent as reservoir levels are at low levels.
