Discovery of a significant oil and gas reservoir in the South Atlantic

The exploitation of the largest oil and gas reservoir discovered in the last 25 years, located in the Bumerangue block, is expected to change global energy dynamics. This discovery, approximately 400 kilometers south of Rio de Janeiro, was made by BP and consists of 1,000 meters of hydrocarbon column. Evaluation activities are planned to start in 2027, pending regulatory approvals. This discovery could reduce the Middle East's influence on the fossil fuel market. It is considered significant due to the high-quality carbonate rocks involved.
