Modernization of Nutrition in the National Guard with New Meals
April 7, 2026
The National Guard is modernizing its approach to soldiers' nutrition during campaigns. New Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) are being introduced to meet dietary needs. These meals provide 3,200 – 4,200 calories and include proteins, carbohydrates, and snacks. The new strategy allows for consumption without cooking and minimizes waste. Existing food supplies will be used up before the new meals are fully implemented.
