April 8, 2026
The Limassol District Court imposed heavy sentences of 22 and 20 years on two defendants for the importation and trafficking of 90 kilograms of cannabis and 4 kilograms of cocaine. The drugs were discovered in inflatable toys that arrived from Thessaloniki. The court emphasized the seriousness of the case and the need for deterrent sentences due to the rise in drug offenses. Despite the defendants' personal circumstances, the large quantity and purity of the drugs influenced the decision. This case is considered one of the most serious drug cases to have been presented in Cypriot courts.
