The Health Insurance Organization (OAY) imposed a €3,000 fine on an ophthalmologist for submitting a reimbursement request related to an unperformed consultation. The doctor had repeated this violation, while the reimbursement requests were submitted by his employee without the necessary security procedures. OAY continues its checks on healthcare providers to ensure transparency and proper management of resources within the GESY system. So far, a total of €81,000 in fines has been imposed on various doctors and hospitals for irregularities. This situation highlights the importance of oversight for the integrity of the healthcare system.
