Upgrades of Military Bases in Cyprus

Significant upgrades are expected at the military bases in Cyprus, particularly at the Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos and the Evangelos Florakis Naval Base in Mari. The works are set to begin in spring 2027 and are expected to finish by 2030. The air base will have an extended runway and new communication systems installed. At the naval base, the port will be deepened to accommodate larger vessels, such as frigates and submarines. The aim is to enhance the strategic capability of the Republic of Cyprus.
