New Cases of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Sheep and Goat Units in Athienou

Two new cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been detected in sheep and goat units in Athienou, bringing the total number of affected units to 110. The Veterinary Services reported that no decisions have been made regarding rare breeds like the red cattle and fat-tailed sheep. The second phase of vaccination for cattle has reached 81%, while vaccination coverage for sheep and goats is at 64%. All pig farms within restricted zones have received at least the first vaccination. Decisions on further actions are expected soon.
