Stricter Age Verification for Social Media Use in Cyprus
May 3, 2026
The Republic of Cyprus is implementing EU proposals for online age verification, setting 15 as the minimum age for using social media. The aim is to protect minors and strengthen family roles. Other European countries have already imposed or are considering similar measures. The age verification application will confirm users' ages without disclosing personal information. The European Commission is swiftly encouraging member states to adopt this application by the end of the year.
