Ryanair Reduces Routes and Closes Thessaloniki Base
May 8, 2026
Ryanair is making significant cuts to its network in Greece for winter 2026 by closing its base in Thessaloniki. This will result in the loss of 700,000 flight seats and the cancellation of 12 routes from the country. The airline believes rising charges at Greek airports have made Greece less competitive compared to other markets. The changes will particularly impact Thessaloniki due to the withdrawal of three aircraft. Despite the government's efforts to lower fees, these reductions do not seem to have affected passenger prices.
