Challenges in OAY and Pharmaceutical Companies Negotiations
May 12, 2026
Patients in Cyprus are still facing high contributions for medications under the GESY, due to failed negotiations between the Health Insurance Organization and pharmaceutical companies. This situation forces many elderly patients to spend more on anticoagulant medications. Despite the Health Minister's efforts to resolve the issue, no agreement has been reached as companies present additional concerns. The OAY proposed a cap on patient contributions, but companies remain negative. More dialogue is needed to find a solution.
