Concerns About Infrastructure in the Vasilikos Area
May 15, 2026
In the Vasilikos area, there is concern about the large number of industrial facilities that exist or are planned. This concentration of infrastructure could impact the economy and safety in the event of crises. Vasilikos is being developed as an energy hub for Cyprus, hosting many significant installations, from naval bases to power generation stations. The 2017 spatial plan has been revised due to discoveries of natural gas and upcoming infrastructure upgrades. Proposals for specialized zones include areas for liquefied natural gas and other facilities.
