Compensation for Farmers Affected by Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The support and compensation program for farmers affected by foot-and-mouth disease is in full swing. As of recently, there have been 116 infected units and 76,216 infected animals reported. Compensation ranges from €16,000 to €500,000 per unit, depending on the loss of livestock and destroyed feed. The total budget for supporting farmers is estimated to exceed €35.6 million. Payments have already begun and are expected to be completed soon.
