Low Representation of Women in Parliament: An Analysis of the Current Situation

In the new House of Representatives of Cyprus, only 11 women have been elected, representing 19.6% of all members. Despite an increase in women's representation, gender inequalities remain significant. New political parties have succeeded in electing more women compared to traditional parties. The Commissioner for Gender Equality advocates for the implementation of binding quotas in elections and party structures.
