Establishment of a firefighting station in Cyprus to strengthen civil protection

Cyprus will host the new European regional aerial firefighting station, which will include six Air Tractor aircraft. This station aims to enhance readiness for dealing with wildfires in the Southern Mediterranean region. It will also fulfill training needs for professionals in the sector. The European Union is enhancing its crisis management mechanism in support of member states. This preparation comes ahead of the new fire season of 2026.
