Court Ruling on Coverage of Patient's Treatment Expenses

A patient diagnosed with liver cancer achieved a judicial victory 14 years after his diagnosis, supported by the Constitutional Court. The court overturned the government's refusal to cover the costs of his treatment abroad, totaling €68,000. It was found that the administration may not have conducted proper research regarding the availability of necessary treatment in Cyprus. The patient had requested to go abroad for surgery since 2012. This ruling opens the possibility for the relevant authorities to reevaluate the case.
