DIKO's Disagreements with Direct Democracy Over the Parliament Presidency
June 5, 2026
Nikolas Papadopoulos, president of DIKO, discussed disagreements with the Movement for Direct Democracy regarding his support for the presidency of the parliament. The lack of support was due to a request for TikTok videos featuring the President and ministers. There is agreement on other policy proposals, such as pensions and allowances, but the condition set by Mr. Panagiotou was not accepted. Papadopoulos explained that the parliament cannot increase expenditures, which is under the jurisdiction of the Executive Authority. DIKO's position is to improve the subsidy system and utilize land for residential projects.
