New EU Directive on Pay Transparency
June 5, 2026
The new EU rules on pay transparency strengthen the principle of equal pay between women and men. Each member state must comply with the Directive by 2026, informing the Commission accordingly. Among the employers' obligations is to provide salary information before the interview. Employees will have the right to request information about their compensation and any discrimination. The Directive aims to reduce the gender pay gap, which currently stands at 11.1% in the EU.
