Turkey's Statements Regarding Aircraft Harassment Claims
June 8, 2026
The Turkish presidency stated that claims about Turkish aircraft harassing the plane of Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias are false. According to Ankara, the aircraft en route from Greece to Southern Cyprus violated the airspace of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. As a result, Turkish F-16s took off as a precautionary measure, but there was no harassment. The announcement urges not to trust claims aimed at manipulating public opinion. Flights during the 115th anniversary of the Air Force Command were conducted within scheduled areas.
