Ranking of Safe Countries in 2026: Cyprus Sees Decline

The Global Peace Index 2026 indicates that the international state of peace has worsened for the twelfth consecutive year. Cyprus dropped to the 80th position with a score of 1.967, while Greece improved its ranking to 53rd with a score of 1.828. The top countries in security usually combine low levels of violence and high social trust. Iceland remains at the top of the ranking, followed by New Zealand and Switzerland. Iceland excels in areas such as social cohesion and quality of life.
