Permanent Presence of Greek Fighters and Frigate in Cyprus

Nicosia aims to establish a permanent presence of Greek fighter jets in Cyprus to enhance the deterrent capabilities of the Republic of Cyprus. Following recent events, there is a need for improved protection of the Cypriot airspace. There may be a potential change in the type of aircraft used, possibly replacing the F-16s with F-4 Phantoms. Additionally, the Greek frigate Elli will maintain a permanent presence in Cypriot waters for better surveillance. Greek and French forces are collaborating more closely in the region through a new agreement.
