The construction of a new mobile desalination unit in the community of Mazotou is progressing despite local opposition. The project aims to meet water needs for the period 2027-2029, with the government ensuring its legality. The total project cost has risen to €92 million, including costs for land expropriation. The unit is expected to begin operation in January 2027. The Water Development Department has secured all necessary approvals to complete the project.
