Concerns for School Bus Safety Due to Inadequate Inspections
June 18, 2026
The Audit Service warns of the risks posed by school buses deemed fit by private inspection centers, which later fail state checks. Specifically, 19% of buses approved by private centers were found unsuitable in government inspections. The overall ratio of unsuitable buses reaches 35%, raising serious questions about the reliability of private inspections. Moreover, it is noted that 53% of buses did not undergo the required inspection at state centers, increasing the risk to student safety. There is a need for stricter oversight and compliance from bus companies.
