Implementation of a 3 Euro Duty on Small Packages in the EU
July 1, 2026
Starting today, a temporary customs duty of 3 euros for small packages valued up to 150 euros is implemented in the European Union. This measure aims to combat unfair competition and enhance security checks on e-commerce products. Each item in a package incurs a separate charge, leading consumers to potentially face higher costs for online purchases. E-commerce platforms may either absorb the cost or pass it on to their customers. This duty is expected to remain in effect until 2028 when a full revision of the European customs system will take place.
