Increasing Bacterial Resistance and Strategy at the Ministry of Health

Europe is facing an increasing resistance of dangerous bacteria to antibiotics. Recent research indicates that Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli are developing new survival mechanisms. Cyprus is among the countries with the highest rates of resistance and nosocomial infections. The Ministry of Health is working on a strategy to tackle microbial resistance. The concern focuses on the ability of these strains to spread within the community.
