Challenges in Accessing Rehabilitation Services
July 6, 2026
The situation of rehabilitation services in Cyprus is challenging, as many families struggle to cover high costs that are not covered by the General Healthcare System (GeSY). Patients, mainly the elderly, face desperate situations since the government subsidy is limited. The licensing processes for new rehabilitation centers are delayed, affecting access to needed services. The laws that have been passed appear to restrict the development and licensing of new facilities. Thousands of citizens are in a difficult position due to the shortages in rehabilitation services.
