Installation of cameras to monitor mobile phone use while driving in Nicosia

On Grivas Digenis Avenue, the first stationary cameras using AI technology will be installed to monitor mobile phone use while driving. These cameras will detect if drivers are holding their phones, and if a violation is confirmed, a fine will be issued. This initiative is planned as a pilot project aimed at reducing traffic accidents caused by distracted driving. Additionally, there are plans to install other cameras to monitor speed. The Traffic Police hopes that this technology will enhance road safety in Cyprus.
